Technology In Our Classroom!

The world we live in is coming out with technological advancements every moment. More and more technology becomes a crucial part of our society from phones, home assistants, self driving cars, you name it! In our classroom we will utilize technology as much as possible, going to the computer lab and borrowing computers when able. We will practice typing and become familiar with Microsoft Word to write our essays and practice letters. While phones are not allowed during instructional time, there are certain activities we will utilize these devices for. Students are encouraged to share with their group members who may not have a device available. If there is anything you'd like to share with me about our class, I will be doing a weekly check-in poll to check the temperature. We also have some field trips planned this year, if we aren't able to go on them we will go on a virtual field trip instead!

Our Learning Style

 Our classroom this year is going to revolve completely around YOU! Everyday we will have a warm-up prompt, a short prompt that relates to a book we're reading, a subject area we're focusing on, or some other relevant subject. We will then discuss your responses as a class and how they relate to the day's activities! While doing the day's activities, I will allow you all to read and present as much as possible. Since we're in South Florida, I'm sure we have many students from different backgrounds! On the first day, instead of doing regular introductions we will do a fun arts and crafts segment and make poster boards introducing ourselves. We will work in groups and I will complete this project alongside you all. After we present our introduction posters, I will go over my expectations for this school year and the way that we will structure our class. I would like to foster a close knit family feel in our classroom where you are all able to be comfortable and learn well. As we get intro our stride, I will choose some classroom ambassadors that will help me lead discussions, read our agenda, etc. I look forward to seeing how we will all learn and grow together!

Hello! My name is Ms. Walker. This is my very first year teaching so it is my honor and pleasure to have you as my first class ever! I cannot wait to meet you all in class on Monday! Here's a little bit of background about myself; I was born in the island of Jamaica and am very proud of my West Indian heritage despite growing up in South Florida. I enjoy reading, baking, watching movies, and taking naps! I look forward to finding out if we have anything in common! I've wanted to be a teacher since I was an elementary school student so being here with you all is a dream come true quite literally.
